Ohhh... make sure you wear your mom (or dad) jeans after eating here!! You will leave stuffed and happy!!! I know we sure did!
We were detoured through Deming after the road to Silver City was closed due to ice, snow and apparently a 5 car accident (according to the state troopers blocking the road). So we decided to stop in Deming for lunch. I am so glad we did!!! Being from Arizona we like to think we are experts when it comes to Mexican food. Camino Real did not disappoint and served up the real deal!
The hubs had the combo plate with a tamale, taco, Chile relleno and red chili beef. Of course i sampled everything but the taco. The red chili beef was my favorite on his plate. Tender beef melting in your mouth and slightly spicy and earthy chili gravy.
I had the stuffed sopapilla with shredded beef.  It was like a little pillow of beef covered in Christmas sauce (red & green chili). Usually I am verde sauce fan, but their red sauce is divine.
The beans and rice on the side were equally flavorful. Beans were sooooo creamy
And speaking of creamy, their guacamole rivals anything else I have had in a long time.
I'm so glad we were detoured and found this little place!! Highly recommended and will definitely stop again if we are in the area

Total hole in the wall Mexican joint right off of I-10 next to Sonic. What El Camino Real lacks in ambiance (fluorescent lights overhead, a single waitress working the room and handling take out orders) it makes up for in the food.

The chips are made in house and lack salt, but the salsa rocks. It's got lots of heat from fresh chiles and that made me happy. I ordered the stuffed sopapilla with shredded beef and the red sauce had a nice warm burn to it that lingered until well after I was back on the road. The beans tasted like they were made by somebody's grandma with love.

The server was friendly and was busting her tail. Skip the chains and grab your meal here.

I would have never stopped here had it not been for my girlfriend going on about delicious Mexican good (which we are both fans of) in Deming, NM.  We drive between Tucson and Las Cruces enough to want to know about any gems along the way and this is certainly one of them!

We had our pups with us, so my Hubs went in and ordered us some breakfast/lunch to eat out in the care.  The people that work here are very warm and welcoming and the place was busy with a constant stream of diners.  We got our food quickly -- my Hubs ordered the combo plate (taco, tamale, enchilada and chile rellano) and I had the Chilaquiles.  There are two big stand outs here -- the beans are fantastic.  Yes, beans can be fantastic... these were, and you can tell they are totally freshly made.  The Salsa -- LOVED it.  As a matter of fact, they gave us this little tub of salsa to go with a bag of chips and we took it home with us.  Our food was delicious.

Now, the Chilaquiles... many know I am in search of the worlds best Chilaquiles.  Unfortunately, these did not win that title which is still held by my Sister In Law ... they were good don't get me wrong but not off the charts.

When we come through Deming next time, and we will... we are stopping again and I will try something else.  Oh, and we will see if they will sell us a big tub of salsa to go!

A wonderful place to eat. Most authentic Mexican food, well prepared, nicely seasoned. We try to eat here when we come through this town.

Yelp saves the day again!  This hidden gem is a wonderful place to stop along I-10....good food with just enough kick, friendly service and amazing prices.  Thank you, Yelp, for helping me find another winner!
